Will has been a resident of Mendota Heights for almost 20 years, moving here with his wife Pam in 2008. Their greatest pride is their three children who grew up and attended Mendota Heights schools, from pre-K through 12th. The twins are college sophomores and the youngest is at Two Rivers High School.

Will grew up in a large family on a small farm in Iowa.
It was the best of times—being a free range kid and learning to love nature.
It was the worst of times—in terms of being economically punishing.

He went on to study engineering and environmental science at Iowa State University, and all eight in his family went on to earn college degrees. Professionally, he is a civil engineer who has worked for two State Departments of Transportation, a large private engineering firm, and the U.S. Department of Transportation (Federal Highway Administration).

‍Will has been a member of the City’s Natural Resources Commission since its inception in 2022. He is currently serving as Chair of the Commission and previously served as Vice Chair. See the Natural Resources page for more about this work.

In addition to his Commission work, Will has been a longtime volunteer at school and city events including serving as a youth track coach and official, youth baseball and soccer coach, numerous tree plantings, and stepping up to help wherever needed.
